Sean is the moniker of Cleethorpes based designer Sean Rodwell. For The Taciturn Signal he presents sculptures, assemblages, sound, prints and other small works combining abstraction with flags, measures, driftwood and other readymade objects.

Initially an attempt to express his inner thoughts away from the constraints of his commercial design practice, the resulting artworks are confident and colourful, full of references to the coast, hazard warnings, shipping and maritime signalling apparatus.

The Taciturn Signal is a result of documenting and abstracting inner experience and giving these feelings form and weight. Making became therapy and allowed me the time and space to create a body of work that meets stability and vulnerability head on whilst easing the issues in the process.
