Dom Heffer: Delay-a-grams
In an age of instant news, rapid communication, and digital overload, Hull-based artist Dom Heffer has produced a new series of paintings that highlight the gallery as a refuge for ‘slow looking’.
His new exhibition, Delay-a-grams, features large-scale paintings that challenge our relationship with vision—through advertising, entertainment, gaming, food, and nature.
Heffer’s works blend themes of retro tech, cinema, and mass production, often populated by his signature ‘stooges’—humanoid figures caught in surreal, aimless acts or escaping the canvas itself. Some pieces are ‘Remixes’, revisited and reworked over years, reflecting a slow evolution of ideas.
At its core, the exhibition celebrates painting as a space for thought, play, and reflection. It’s Heffer’s largest show to date, offering a rich, layered experience of the digital and natural worlds in dialogue.
