Opening Event – Scunthorpe Steel: The Exhibition

Join us to celebrate the launch of Scunthorpe Steel, a major new exhibition exploring the town’s steelmaking heritage through photography and film.

The exhibition brings together Richard Heeps’ Rolled Out, documenting the Bloom and Billet Mill before its closure in 2007, Ian Lee’s 88 and Out series on the decommissioning of the Plate Mill, and a new series of photographs by Ian capturing the Blast Furnaces and Continuous Casting Mill.

Visitors will also get the first look at Scunthorpe Steel Through Our Eyes, an open-call photography exhibition featuring work by members of our local community.

Films on display include British Steel – The Movie, created from previously unseen archive footage, and A Steelworker’s Story by Michael Burkitt.
